![]() Tameka Alicea, is a wonder woman with many facets. Creativity is her middle name, as she has embarked on a journey and birthed her very own online fashion boutique and photography business as the end results. Alicea loved fashion and gravitated towards it at a young age. Because of her love for fashion, she will be relaunching her online store in January of 2020. Her photography business, Tameka Alicea Photography consists of fashion photography, runway, entertainment, and fashion related events. Alicea took a different route in becoming a professional photographer compared to others. She did not always have a passion for photography, nor did she ever think it would become anything more than just a hobby. However, her interest grew as she pursued and earned her Bachelor’s degree in Media Arts at the University of South Carolina. She worked on set of various short films and as a production assistant for season 11 American Idol in North Charleston. She had always loved films and was curious about how they were made. So, before she bought her own camera, she would rent the cameras from school and go around campus recording footage and capturing images of anything in my path. Later she realized after looking back at the photos that she was able to capture the beauty in even the simplest of subjects. This is only her opinion of course! Whether it was a person, flower, a tree or a rock, she tried to capture the essence of it. So around her 40th birthday she decided that she would aggressively pursue her newly developed passion. She even booked her first fashion show at her church! In defining herself now as a professional photographer, she has to consistently work hard to increase her confidence. God helps her daily to overcome all doubt, fear and insecurity. She knows that through Him she is more than good enough! It was easy for her to narrow down her area of focus because she always had a love for fashion. It is an art form where she gets to be creative and help others see themselves in a way they could not before. She currently works professionally in various areas of SC, NC and Atlanta GA. She has shot several fashion shows, fashion week events including Columbia Fashion Week and Charlotte Seen Fashion Week and countless photo shoots. She also previously worked as a contract photographer with Intro Talent Branding & Management in Charlotte, NC. Her work has been featured in multiple fashion and lifestyle magazines such as SHE Magazine, The Loop Mag, Hype Hair, VoyageATL, Bellah A’ffaire (cover and spread) and BlaqStardom Magazine. Her belief is that she can create beautifully crafted stories full of life and art in any image she captures. So that is her goal…to Create.Simple.Art. "I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly." (John 10: 10b) The Modern Female The Modern Female is a blog designed to encourage and inspire women, from all walks of life, to live a more fulfulling life exploring all the beautiful, delicious, heartfelt moments around them. Blogger, Jennifer Capunitan, writes on relevant topics such as relationships, family, faith, fashion, food, travel, health & fitness, DIY, Giveaways & Products, and Real Modern Females (women making an impact through their own unique abilities).
Capunitan's inspiration for TheModernFemale.com came from some extensive research that she did for one of her public relations clients in 2015. She discovered that most blogs for women focused primarily on 1 or 2 topics. However, she created a blog where women could read about many different topics that would spark their interest and improve their lives. She started her blog in early 2016 and has seen significant growth in the past year and a half. Capunitan states, "It has taken a lot of extra dedication, extra cups of coffee, and brain power to write at least one-to-two articles per week on my own while running my other PR company, but whenever women email me or comment on my blog saying how much they were inspired on encouraged--every sleepless hour is worth it." Capunitan believes that women are brilliant "multi-taskers" who want to take on every problem, every project all at one time, and take much pride in what they can accomplish in one day. Capunitan states, "I am a multi-tasking addict and love to explore many things all at one time. I wanted to create a site where women could find and "talk" about everything that runs through their brains. I love encouraging women. It is my passion and I hope that TheModernFemale.com becomes a safe haven where women feel loved, respected, inspired, and safe to be their true selves." Capunitan's dream is to one day have TheModernFemale.com become a digital magazine with multiple writers, photographers, and contributors bringing the BEST content for women around the globe. ![]() Actors, Models, and Talent for Christ (AMTC) is a nonprofit ministry dedicated to making good bolder in film, fashion, music and theater. Through a unique faith-based educational program, AMTC teaches performers how to become positive role models in the entertainment industry, then introduces them to top media executives through its international talent convention. AMTC follows The Great Commission of Jesus Christ by preparing actors, models, singers, dancers and comedians to ‘go into the world’ of arts and entertainment with love and excellence—as reflections of Christ and His truth. AMTC’s vision is to see the Great Commission of Jesus Christ fulfilled in film, fashion, music and theater. During the summer of 2011, I had the honor of performing in the AMTC Summer 2011 Convention in Orlando, FL, and I was indeed "spotted" by an agent. It was an amazing experience as I attended several seminars and workshops taught by top professionals of the industry and was a contestant in several showcases: cold read, on camera acting, commercial runway, dance, and voice in which I presented my talents in front of top agents of the industry. Leading up to the convention, I auditioned for AMTC in September of 2010 for hip hop dance and in order to be well-rounded in craft, I was encouraged to do other categories as well. I was given several classes and private lessons, along with online seminars and an online account loaded with information and tips about the industry and auditioning. I was also given several resources. Overall, I learned a lot about myself as an artist during this experience, and I discovered that there was more sides to myself than simply dance. I also confronted my fears, and grew as a person. For more information about AMTC and auditions in your area, go to: http://www.amtcworld.com/ |
